Illegal logging is taking a heavy toll on the mangrove forests of Cameroon's Manoka Island, endangering both the environment and local livelihoods. Dr. Yo Manga, Director of the Manoka Community Forest, highlighted that extensive and unauthorized tree-cutting is reducing mangrove cover at an alarming rate, destabilizing the island's unique ecosystem and its role as a natural barrier against coastal erosion.
