Eight-thousand hectares of jasmine flowers sway in the breeze near south China's Hengzhou City as they enter harvest season. The city, well known as a jasmine production hub, is expected to see output top 100,000 tons this year. Locals say the best time to harvest the blossoms is between two and three in the afternoon to ensure the highest levels of essential oils. The newly picked jasmine will be sold to buyers on the same day and then sent to tea factories to create aromatic blends.
