A drop in the price of lithium carbonate, a raw material used to make rechargeable batteries, is supercharging demand for energy storage products made in China. The price of battery-grade lithium carbonate currently stands at around 26,000 U.S. dollar per ton in China, down nearly 70 percent from an all-time high last November. The dip in raw material costs has allowed Chinese firms making energy storage batteries and systems to cut prices by one-fifth.
