China's foreign trade up 4.7% in first five months

According to the General Administration of Customs, China's foreign trade volume during the first five months of this year rose 4.7 percent year on year, reaching 16.9 trillion yuan, or 2.4 trillion U.S. dollars. Exports accounted for 9.6 trillion yuan, up over 8 percent on a yearly basis, while imports surpassed 7 trillion yuan, registering a 0.5 percent year-on-year increase.
