Rising international sugar prices mean sweet success for sugar mills in southwest China's Yunnan Province, a major sugar producer in the country. Raw sugar prices at the Intercontinental Exchange have risen 37 percent since January to more than 27 cents per pound at the end of April. Meanwhile, China's sugar futures hit a six-year high last month. At a sugar factory in Lincang City, dozens of trucks carrying sugarcane are lined up to dump their loads into crushing machines.
