Egypt is striving to bring its sizable informal economy into the official market, where it accounts for around 40% of the nation's economic output. Despite government initiatives to promote formalization, a significant portion of economic activity remains informal. A recent World Bank report suggests that the informal sector's contribution to GDP could be as substantial as $127 billion, with over 55% of Egypt's workforce engaged in informal employment.
