Five years ago Emmanuel Chareka adopted organic farming. He hasn't used chemical fertilizers or pesticides since then. Pests are kept at bay by companion farming with flowers, onions or garlic which are natural repellents. While crops are fed manure generated by livestock or foraged from the land. The transition has brought him peace of mind. The conservation transition farming reduces or eliminates the use of chemicals to lower costs and increase crop resilience.
