Students across Nigeria are bracing for tougher times ahead, following the decision by some federal and state-owned universities and other tertiary institutions to hike their fees. Most of the institutions have either raised their fees or plan to do so to cope with higher operating costs due to the scrapping of the fuel subsidy and the weakening of the Naira. There are concerns that many students could drop out due to the higher learning costs.
