Major shifts have taken place in the energy sector, according to China’s National Energy Administration. By the end of 2023, more than half of the increase in electricity consumption across China had come from new, clean energy sources. Compared to 2012, the cumulative decrease in energy consumption per unit of GDP has exceeded 26 percent. The NEA also promised to maintain openness and cooperation to address the challenges of climate change.
