It's a sad period for renowned Gengetone artist Mungai Mbaya and wife Aisha after losing their first child a month after welcoming him to the world.

In a lengthy Instagram post, broken-hearted Aisha poured her heart out expressing how overwhelmed she was by the news. She revealed that her baby Lyric Kagecho Mungai passed away on Monday, June 28, at 9am.

"I'm literally shaking typing this because I'm still in shock. I can't believe my baby is gone and I'm never going to see him. He fought so hard to stay with us but he was in too much pain. He decided it was time for him to rest.”

In the post, she expressed how sad she was since she had so many plans for her son and how his sudden demise had taken a toll on her.

"He turned a month old today but he couldn't go any further. I had so many plans for him and it really hurts that I'll never get to see them through with him. I can't believe my son is gone."

According to Aisha, the loss of a loved one is something she had never experienced before. This was a significant blow to her. She expressed how happy she and her boyfriend were when he was born as Lyric gave her a chance to be a mother and she will forever remain in his debt for that.

"I'm still in shock and denial, I even feel like vomiting my guts out. I've never dealt with loss in my life before and this hits home so bad. I miss him so much. He gave me happiness that I had never felt and we loved him so much. He made me a mother and I'll always be in his debt for that. We still love him and he will always be my Lyric Kagecho Mungai. There will never be another like him. Fly with the angels my baby boy."

Mungai and Aisha on Real Talk

22-year-old Mungai and 19-year-old Aisha met through a mutual friend while Mungai was out recording a kid’s show for YouTube. When they came to Switch TV Kenya's Real Talk with Tamima, Aisha was already nine months pregnant, and they were both so excited about their baby’s expected arrival. They weren’t sure about the baby’s gender as they wanted it to be a surprise.

At the time, the two had been together for two years and had been living together. According to them, living together was situational and the only option they had at the time. Mungai is the brother to former Machachari actor Tyler Mbaya.

Below is their interview on Real Talk with Tamima...
