Zlatan could face a three-year ban for gambling allegations

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is facing a career threatening issue that could lead to a three-year ban. Reports suggest that there are chances the striker could be an investor in a betting company.

Reports from his native country Sweden, state that in a Malta-based betting company, the striker has recognizable shares.

UEFA and FIFA policies state that professional footballers are restricted from engaging in any form of gambling let alone investing in a gambling organization. Zlatan risks a long ban should he be found guilty.

Further reports from Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper show that Ibrahimovic’s activities which have been going on for three years now have been familiar to the Swedish Football Association all this while.

Hakan Sjjstrand: direct or indirect betting by players is unethical

Zlatan was not called upon to play the FIFA World Cup 2018, and this might be the reason why, according to reports. In 2016, the Swedish player retired from international football prior to making an extraordinary retort this year.

Back in 2018, the striker became the betting company’s brand ambassador with reports indicating that he is fourth among the largest stakeholders in the betting firm.

Zlatan’s story initially made headlines after a comment was made on the matter by Hakan Sjjstrand, the Secretary-General of the Swedish Football Association back in 2018. He stated that based on FIFA’S regulations and ethical codes, no professional player is permitted to own shares in a betting firm either directly or indirectly.

The AC Milan striker was getting ready for a new deal to lengthen his stay at AC Milan when this issue rekindled. He is likely to get a long ban or a hefty fine because of this.
