Here's Why The Band BeCa Joined Wife Material Show

From the Murayas and The Bahatis who faked break ups to increase views on their Youtube content, to The Band Beca who recently joined a reality show to promote an album, Clout chasing is now the shortcut to becoming rich and famous. Let's talk Band BeCa. The members; Becky and Caro, came out clearly as to why they joined Eric Omondi’s Wife Material and it has nothing to do with feelings or love. Speaking on Switch TV Kenya's evening show, Chatspot, the duo said that they joined the show so as to push an upcoming album that they intend to release in February. They had no idea about the show until they saw Eric Omondi’s post on Instagram and decided to give it a try; a strategy that seemed to work for them and raising a lot of mixed reaction from netizens.
“Wife material was a good strategy for our upcoming album. So, we were like, what else can push our album if it’s out? Let’s do this!” (SIC)
They did this knowing that it would help them in terms of fan base but didn’t know if the critiques would be positive or negative.
“Watu wametukujia sana, we are being body shamed a lot,” said Band Beca. “The good thing is, they are attacking us and not leaving so we are [indirectly] benefitting from the show.”
Regarding the show, the ladies expressed their fear of fights and confrontations which was being experienced during that period.
“Kila mtu alikuwa na nails, na wako ready kuscratch. You know Shakilla…”
Moreover, Carol explained that the mouth-to-mouth connection during their date with Eric was a happy moment and real at some point.
“People can fake-kiss in movies, you know? But we are humans. Some part of it was real”
On the other hand, Becky explained her dissatisfaction when Carol was chosen leaving her behind.
“I felt bad when Carol was chosen. This is my girl and we come as a package,” Becky joked.
Netizens have given their views on the same, with some saying Carol will neither get a husband nor a boyfriend.
The drama around the show pushed the ladies to write their new song, Watch your Mouth. This is because people got into their nerves by sticking their noses in their business. Watch your Mouth was planned and produced amidst the show so as to send a message to the individuals who were negatively judging their decisions. In the music video, the ladies recorded a scene in which they are making out, creating even more controversy. According to them, the video is all about womanhood and feeling empowered as a woman and putting the message out there that we dont need men all the time.
