Media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

Twitter had a field day with the Oprah Winfrey name on Tuesday and Wednesday, all for the wrong reasons.

Oprah, a very successful media executive after two and a half decades of hosting popular prime time show The Oprah Winfrey Show, retired to run her own network back in May of 2011. In addition to this, she is known for her philanthropic work which includes providing access to education for girls in Africa. Ironically, Oprah was trending on Twitter on reports of sex trafficking suspicion.

Posts targeting the 66-year-old claimed that her house had been seized, property taken and tunnels dug. Footage purportedly from a police camera during the raid surfaced online, but was quickly dismissed as fake. The billionaire’s home in question was her residence in Boca Raton, Florida.

Oprah in her usual assured self, shut down the rumours by tweeting:

Just got a call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful fake thing. It’s not true. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self-distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody.”

Corona Virus Angle

It is not clear how the rumour started but it looks like she, just like the rest of us is taking precaution against the now pandemic corona virus.

Stay safe guys and remember to lean your hands often with running water and soap or Alcohol based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

In addition to this, keep away from those that are sick by avoiding crowded areas.
