The Traditional Woman

Many have associated women with weakness and mediocracy. Terms such as umama have been negatively used to describe people who have the inability to toughen up or talk too much or display emotions. Women have come a long way to earn seats at the high table but even so, there’s always that notion that women are weaker compared to men and no decision made by them can be final till finalized by a man.

No one is questioning the authority of a man; even Holy Books have stated that men are the head of the family and wives ought to submit to the authority. This was adapted in the society as a ticket for male dorminance. But times have changed and women have been empowered, they are demanding a piece of the supremacy cake and there is no stopping them. We live in an era where women are fighting for equal rights as men and it has become a big threat to the societal traditions, with contempt being the order of the day. Gone are the days when women were being given special treatment because they were too naïve and in dire need of knights in shining armour.

Welcome to the 21st Century where women fight for what they want regardless of what they have to lose. Welcome to the era of survival for the fittest; where a woman can beat a man and still be the victim of domestic violence; where women don’t need men in their lives, just the support that comes with having a partner who can take over the financial burden decoyed by a child, in the name of co-parenting. Welcome to the age of feminism, the word to describe the female version of masculinity; what a man won’t do, a woman will do it better.

Good news to the men out there; you can now procreate and fill the earth without having to worry about taking care of your child because women are tired. They are tired of countless court cases over child support and daddy responsibilities; you don’t want to take care of your child? Fine. I can be the daddy and the mommy to my child because I am man enough.

The Modern woman has toughened up

Gone are the ‘joint account’ days when couples trusted each other enough to count their money while seating at the table and planning for a happily ever after. Now, this is a woman’s world, where she provides everything, pays for everything and enjoys being single in a marriage. The era where a woman’s pay-check is the ticket to a man’s irresponsibility; why bother providing when we are two men in this house, right?

Money possesses power and power is dangerous especially when in the hands of a woman. It has given rise to the Ben 10 society with the question, who's the sponsor now? She finances her boy’s life, pays his bills, dresses him, feeds him and pays for the gym so that he can maintain his body; the only reason why she’s spending money on him. We all know what she gets in return. Shout out to the people out there who go around linking women to the love of money; now, it’s the money that loves them.

To the Lotharios out there, sit down and be schooled. Away are the days when women would sit down and cry over a cheating man. You know why? Because she has spare men that are waiting in line for a turn in her life. You screw up, good for you, your turn is up. Next!

The only thing that hasn’t changed in this world is the sensitivity of a woman. Women still have their emotions. The kind of emotion she portrays however depends on the kind of treatment she receives from her surroundings. Treat a woman good and you will awaken the nurturer in her, do the opposite and…let’s just say, in every woman, there is a man.

William Golding once said;

“Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.”

Then the 21st Century happened and this is how his quote has changes over the years.

“Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit!
