Relationships are complicated. Everyone wants to feel desired it’s the depth and intensity that varies. Technology has really complicated matters when it comes to this need. Men and women post pictures to ‘get the likes’ without a care in the world leave alone the feelings of their significant others.

Do we make our relationship public? Do we keep it under wraps until we are sure? Do you pull down pictures of your old flame? Do we discuss this or let ‘common sense’ prevail? A lot of questions are left unanswered. The thinking behind this is that if one probes, then they might be perceived as either petty or jealous.

Miss Tamima on her show Real Talk with Tamima (Airs every Monday at 8:30PM on Switch TV) had a discussion with several young couples on the effects of social media on their budding relationships. The conversation got heated. The guests, young adults, were highly opinionated and held their ground on the views that they perceived to be right. The question still remains is social media a curse or a blessing for relationships today?

What I post is my business…

Rose Wanjiku, a video vixen strongly believes that what she posts on her social media pages is her business. It is her advertising herself which translates to business and hence money. She posts semi-nude photos of herself online. She is confident about her body and it believes that it brings opportunities in her line of work. Her boyfriend of three years is okay with this; men who message her privately is where he draws the line. On Facebook she cannot post the nudes as she has her family in her network. On Instagram, she bares it all.

No way…

Men in the audience had a problem with Rose’s argument and believed that there are other better ways of making money. Others challenged her on why she felt the need keep her online activities private if what she was doing was right. It’s not worth it if you have to hide. Everyone wants to be a model and at times the Insta life gets into people’s minds and they forget that there are other ways to build a brand for themselves even without showing skin.

It is indeed a free world everyone can make free will decisions. Some decisions are however irreversible. The internet really never forgets.
