Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi Is Crowned Miss Universe 2019

The world is celebrating the newly crowned Miss Universe after she remarkably wowed the judges with her wits, courage, sharpness, talent, and beauty.

Zozibini Tunzi aka Miss South Africa was crowned Miss Universe on Dec 8th in Atlanta after beating a very stiff competition from the other contestants. The 26-year old actually looked surprised after winning the coveted crown against first runner-up Miss Puerto Rico, Madison Anderson,24, whose name was announced after fan-favorite Miss Mexico, Sofia Aragon,25.

The newly crowned Miss Universe has been described as a passionate activist against gender-based violence, an advocate of natural beauty and a lady who encourages women to love themselves as they are.

During the competition hosted by Steve Harvey, Zozibini explained that the most important thing that ladies should be taught today is leadership. “It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a long time, not because we don’t want to, but because of what society has labeled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity.” She also urged that we teach young girls to “take up space” in society.

In addition, she stated "I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair, was never considered to be beautiful. I think that it is time that that stops today." The world is clearly changing for the better as people who actually “look like her” won the Miss Universe 2019.

She has been described as a passionate activist against gender-based violence, an advocate of natural beauty and a lady who encourages women to love themselves as they are. “The Miss Universe platform as well as the Miss South Africa platform are some of the few platforms that actually give women the ability to lead and the sooner we start looking at it as a leadership position, the less it’s something that’s taboo and the more we can start moving forward as women,” she said.

Let’s wait to see what Miss Universe 2019 will do with her well-deserved title.
