Manchester City have officially confirmed the transfer of Bundesliga in form striker Erling Haaland from Bundesliga Club Borussia Dortmund.
The English Premier League champions and current leaders, confirmed the transfer of potentially the most sought after forward in football on their official Twitter handle.
However, the transfer remains subject to the club finalizing terms with the player to be completed on July 1.
“Manchester City can confirm that they have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022” their latest tweet read.
The 21-year-old is following in the footsteps of his father, Alf Inge Haaland, who played for City as well and no doubt still has some affiliation with his former club.
Pep Guardiola's side has been after the Norwegian player for a while and it seemed Haaland was more or less waiting for the right time to join them as opposed to disinterest at the prospect of donning the blue jersey.
Man City have never replaced Sergio Aguero since he left for Barcelona and so Haaland's entry will likely be part of the missing link to complete Guardiola's attacking options.
The Leeds born striker scored an impressive 28 goals and eight assists from just 29 appearances this season, after missing most of the season due to numerous injuries.
The former Bryne player joins Pep Gurdiola’s side in the hopes of forming a team formidable enough to win the Champions League.
This follows City’s exit at the hands of Real Madrid in the Semi-finals, who will proceed to face their league rivals Liverpool in the Final on May 28.
The cup remains missing from City’s trophy cabinet and continues to elude the Manchester side.
