Chelsea’s spot at the Champions League semi-finals has finally been booked despite losing 1-0 to FC Porto during the quarter-final fixture, second leg level.

Earlier last week, the blues managed a 2-0 win against FC Porto. The two away goals gave the Stamford giants an advantage to navigate to the semi-finals.

In a match played at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, Ben Chilwel and Mason Mount made a difference after both scoring a goal.

The blues proceeded to the second leg stage hosted at the same stadium carrying the two-goal advantage having it in mind that any draw at the end of full time will sail them through to the semi-finals.

Having obtained an additional three points on the Premier League table last weekend after a 4-1 win against Crystal Palace, they had a scrappy match against FC Porto in the first half.

FC Porto had two great chances to score but Jesus Corona wasted both. He got a presentable chance after Chancel Mbemba presented a skillful pass only to shoot the ball over the bar.

After the break, Christian Pulisic had an opportunity to give the blues a lead but wasn’t quick enough to control a pull-back brought by Chilwell.

The blues were eventually punished out of their laxity when Taremi scored an amazing overhead kick giving Porto an unexpected lead.

The blues are now set to meet either Liverpool or Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals. Real Madrid will travel to Anfield on Wednesday, April 14, to play the second leg phase of the Leagues quarterfinals.
