Octopizzo disses Kenyans for neglecting the prince of Siaya’s songs, Mr. Otile Brown and hyping Diamond and Koffi Olomide’s new song “Waah!”

MFs out here Gassing Diamond but will not support Otile Brown. The Mediocrity on these platforms. Smh,” (SIC) stated the king of rap world, on one of his twitter posts on 1st of December, 2020.

The post received mixed reactions and sent the Netizens into heated debates about the content in local music. Some even claimed that Otile Brown’s music is “trash” and that no one would like to keep said “trash” in their house. However, the Namba Nane Hip-hop artist didn’t seize tweeting to defend his initial statement.

Other people blamed the Kenyan radio stations for playing either foreign music or the ‘bad’ Kenyan music. In support of Octopizzo, some people said that Otile Brown is creative and he produces great music, it’s only that Kenyans are “hypocrites and traitors” and therefore they do not support their own.

It’s ironic that this discussion erupted and yet Otile Brown was named the most watched Kenyan artist in Africa. This was according to a research done in 11 African countries to show the top 5 musical acts based on a year of local YouTube views.

Does this mean that Kenyans have a negative mentality towards their own artists? Or is it true that Kenyan music has a lot of loopholes which need to be worked on? Who or what is to be blamed and for what?

This discussion also came just before a hilarious video with lyrics extracted from this hit song made rounds on social media. The meme creators took the “Anachukua, anaweka Waah”, bit of the song and interpreted it as Diamond getting into a relationship with a lady (Anachukua), impregnating them (Anaweka) and finally a child is sired (Waah!).

The lyrics have been combined with photo slides of the different women that Diamond, Mr. Simba is said to have been in a relationship with and impregnated, together with their respective children.

As much as the heated arguments about content in our local music keep coming up in the social scene, this can also be a clever publicity strategy by Octopizzo.

Don’t you think Octopizzo and Otile Brown are working on something, and Octo is just trying to prepare us psychologically? Or maybe, this is a kiki for something great from Otile Brown and Diamond Platinumz?
