A woman alleged to be Yusriya Salim popularly known Keydoli, formally Meg C, was yesterday evening held at the Kenya - Tanzania border for suspicions of having the Corona Virus. The Kenyan Musician known for the hit Nipe which did very well in back in the days, is said to have had symptoms that raised alarm, leading to her detention at the border.
In a video that has gone viral, one of the passengers in the bus that she had boarded is heard explaining how they had to all undergo screening, where it was confirmed that she doesn’t have Corona Virus but allergies that she has been taking medication for.
Yusriya recorded a video of herself while in isolation, denying the allegations that she had the virus. She explains that the reason why she could not self-quarantine was because she was hustling for her children. She asks people not to judge but pray for her because she has no other choice but to hustle for her kids.
“Guys, this thing is real. Vile imenipata mimi, now I am even scared because I just knew I would wash my hands and sanitize myself but still they think that because of my coughing, I am infected.”
It is during these rush moments that people are travelling back to their homes before the closure of the border on Wednesday, as a measure to curb the spread of COVID19. The disease has affected hundreds of thousands and killed thousands, globally.
Yusriya’s musical career was at its peak when she lost her husband in a fatal accident in Malindi in 2010; she was heavy with child at the time. Later, she was linked to footballer Denis Oliech, claims she denied. She made a comeback, changed her name to Keydoli and has since been struggling to make a full musical return.
