Otile Brown is among the few artists being honest about their past and the journey to fame. His music is loved especially by female fans that always go wild when he is performing. Young, slightly rich and famous but that was not always the case. The crooner in an interview with Wasafi radio revealed that he hustled hard to be where he is today.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and before he ventured into music small business was his source income. Otile made and sold soap in order to survive.

After high school, I did not think about going to university. I knew the situation at home and was very aware that I had to get creative and start looking for ways to make money. I got into the business of making my own soap then later during the day go to KPA to count sacks. I have gone through a lot but we are here today. After making a few coins, I came to Nairobi like everybody else looking for greener pastures. I began hawking Maasai shoes door to door. Back then Nairobi didn’t have the original sandals so I made money.

The Chaguo La Moyo hit maker mentioned that he is a business man. Otile added that he is into real estate and also has several shops in Mombasa selling shoes.

I am a hustler. Aside from music, I have my own businesses. I have two shops in Mombasa where I sell shoes I am also in real estate I buy land and sell.

From being a hawker to now one of the most sought after artistes, a sign that dreams come true if you put in the work.
