Singer Akothee’s has revealed why she splashes money on her daughters. She gives each of her three daughters Kshs.20, 000 as pocket money. While netizens were debating on how much is too much money, the singer further added that apart from the Kshs.20, 000 she gives them monthly , she coughs up to Kshs.200, 000 more for their upkeep.
Why…
The mother of five is proud of her children and talks openly about the vision she has for their future. In a recent interview, Akothee explained in details why she spoils her daughters with money.
I give my daughters Ksh 20,000 per month for their pocket money.
As a parent, there is only one thing that scares her to her wits’ end. Her daughters spreading their legs for men, to acquire money or goodies. Niceties that as a parent and at her level, she can actually afford. The money is meant to armour them and build their self-esteem. The Kshs.200, 000 she spends does not include school fees or rent, it’s all upkeep. The business lady strives to ensure money is not the reason her daughters end up in toxic relationships.
...The reality here is I give my children pocket money because I do not want my kids to sleep with men because of money.
On past mistakes and raising independent girls…
The Momtrepreneur lives her life like an open book. She works hard and plays hard too. Her lavish lifestyle is a far cry from the humble beginnings she came from. If it wasn’t considered an insult, abject poverty would best describe it. Akothee’s story is the classical story of grass to grace. Amidst controversy, the lavish lifestyle and entertainment, she has been open and vulnerable too. Sharing about her past as a young girl. A past she is not proud of and most importantly learnt from, the hard way.
Not the one to be intimidated or paint the perfect picture, the self-proclaimed president of single mothers has said on more than one occasion that there are some decisions she made as a young girl she is not proud of. We can never have a brand new start however, we can always start from where we are. As much as Akothee cannot change her past, she is raising her daughters to be independent and not make the same mistakes that she did.
Different strokes for different people however when it comes to parenthood, one thing is clear. There is no mountain too high or a sea too wide for a parent when it comes to their children. Akothee might scream from the rooftops how she is no one’s role model but when it comes down to being real. She is a parent like another looking out for her children.
