One needs to appreciate and understand it. If the going gets tougher, step back, understand the unfolding events and know how to navigate through it.

Genuine relationships are seen in times of crisis. Shaffie talked about how he has always handled his problems alone however this time, he had to involve a counselor and family members to offer him a shoulder to lean on. According to him, it’s not every day that you wake up and realize you will not be earning over Ksh 700,000 anymore.

“We are just trying to hold on at the edge, then boom someone has just decided that yoh Shaffie, will not be earning 700Gs anymore.”

The only time you will know the true value of people around you is when you are in a serious problem. Shaffie described how majority of his closest friends were not there for him when he lost his job.

Shaffie revealed that there's so much he's learnt from his recent experience and has decided to never again give 18 years of his life to anybody but to focus on himself.

“I am not going to give another human being no matter how rich or how big they are, and how much money they are going to throw at me 18 years of my life.”

Shaffie’s definition of success is family. He has four kids; two adopted and two of his own. His first-born daughter Milan will be turning 16 in June and will soon be going to college.
