Champions League defending champs Bayern Munich were knocked out by Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night. The Bundesliga giants were knocked out after a 1-0 win against PSG scored by Eric Maxim Choupo Moting. Despite their victory, they had to bid the title goodbye because of a 3-3 aggregate on PSG’s favor.

The 31 attempts aimed at goal by Bayern only led to one goal which wasn’t enough to take the giants to the semis.

Right from the beginning of the game, Bayern exerted too much pressure on their opponents PSG as they were on a winning quest, but it wasn’t as easy since PSG made more threatening forward attacks.

Neymar appeared very determined to break Bayern’s defense as he struck the post twice during the game’s first half. At first, a critical save was forced out of Manuel Nuer when the Brazilian obtained a lethal pullback from Kylian Mbappe, and struck the bar after skillfully creating space.

Bayern rekindled the clash the moment an opener was found when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting made a brilliant header after he jumped above Presnel Kimpembe shaking PSG’s net from a two-yard distance.

During the second half, David Alaba made a significant attempt at the target giving Bayern an early chance. This was after Leroy Sane gave a pass trying to reach Choupo Moting who was nowhere to be found. David Alaba is set to depart from the club this summer.

PSG finally thought their chance to proceed to the semis was completely guaranteed when Mbappe made a storming run from midfield making an amazing finish. However, the goal was disallowed on offside claims. The youngster as it turned out made the run too early forcing the assistant referee to raise the flag.

As it is, PSG are proceeding to the semis and are most likely to face either Borussia Dortmund or Manchester City.
