Aguero set to leave Man City upon contract expiry

Manchester City coach Pep Gurdiola admitted that he will not act as a barrier should Sergio Kun Aguero decide to depart from the club to join the club’s rivals Chelsea. Upon expiry of the striker’s deal with Manchester City, he is set to leave the club at the season’s end.

Man City confirmed at the end of March that the 32-year-old is set to depart after playing for the club closer to a decade helping the club win trophies. This announcement drew interest of many clubs including La Liga’s Barcelona and Premier League’s Chelsea.

Chelsea is currently observing the striker’s situation closely hoping to lay their hands on him. The blues could be having an upper hand as reports suggest that the striker desires to stay in England.

Even though chances that Chelsea will snap up the striker are highly likely, Pep said that Aguero has stayed loyal to his current club and deserves to be permitted to make his choice on which club to go to next.

"The best for him, we wish – all of us. Find the best for Sergio for the last years in his career, for sure. We'll be delighted with the decision he takes, the best for him and his family and his career," Pep said.

Pep to support Kun Aguero's preference and decision to leave Etihad

Pep continued to say that the striker’s preference is his preference too, and the best for Aguero is the best for Manchester City.

During his career at Etihad, the club has won 13 titles, four Premier League titles included. Aguero who joined the club in 2011 after he left Atletico Madrid has enjoyed a successful career at Etihad.

Manchester City currently tops the league table with a 14-point difference between the league’s number two Manchester United. Aguero has a higher chance of getting his fifth league medal in Etihad.
