Residents of Bungoma town were shocked after a suspected thief was attacked by a swarm of bees. The man in question alongside his accomplice allegedly stole household property from one house in Nalondo, Kabuchai Sub County when they found the house owner not around.

The man whose name is still anonymous walked across the town together with his accomplice in possession of the stolen items including a gas cooker and a flat-screen television.

Residents who witnessed the scene reported that the suspect’s hand was covered with bees as a crowd walked behind him taking videos and pictures out of astonishment.

Rescue was nowhere to be found since the police did not show up and even if they did, not much could be done to save the two. The suspects were forced to walk back to Nalondo where the items were stolen to seek refuge.

Video footages shared on social media by witnesses showed the suspect agonizing in pain as his partner in crime walked behind him carrying the gas cooker and the flat-screen television. Eventually, they got to Philip Simiyu’s residence, a man who had previously fallen victim to theft and was rescued by a herbalist. He poured a liquid on the man to drive the bees away.

The two were then taken in custody.

Criminal activities have been on the rise in the country with the pandemic and the measures placed to curb the spread of #Covid19 things have become very tough that people are doing whatever they can to survive. But is crime a guaranteed mode of survival?
