Finding love can be hard. Most of the times the people we are interested in are not interested in us and we are not interested in those that are seeking after us. The question that has been asked for a long time and has taken its place in the list of controversial topics is, can a woman make the first move? This is the 20th century and women have been empowered so much that the boy child is feeling intimidated. While we are still asking ourselves whether it should be equality or equity, women are making distinctive world changes and taking up the spaces that were previously male dominated. The modern woman is out here initiating conversations, asking men out on dates and feeling emotionally liberated.

Speaking on Full Circle with Joyce, Benjamin Zulu, a relationships counselor advised women not to be the ones ‘hunting’. According to the counselor, a relationship is made up of three components Availability, chemistry and readiness. If one of those is missing from the equation then there is no possibility of the existence of a relationship. The principle is for the man to hunt and look for a lady. The responsibility of the lady then is visibility.

Nature is balanced when the man hunts and the woman is hunted. Zulu said all the achievements of a woman can never make her a man. Happiness is found when one remains in their position. Women need to be loved and cherished and all these are gotten from a man. Benjamin said that if a woman doubles up her role in a relationship she is bound to suffer from a lack of love and friendship. As much as women are now empowered it is important for them to be able to switch from their positions of power whenever it comes to their relationships. Submission is power and a woman that submits to her man is more powerful.

Zulu assured women that being hunted is not a weakness and never leaves you powerless.

There is no manual how a relationship starts or how it ends. The most important thing is the relationship is healthy and both parties are at peace. Whether you want to be hunted or to hunt, as long as you are happy and your ego is being fed right, that is all that matters.
